A utility knife is the hardest-working tool in most people's day. It opens boxes, cuts tape and strapping, trims carpet and plastic, and handles the jobs you wouldn't want to put a good knife through. Our range brings the replaceable-blade format up to EDC standard, with proper handle materials, smooth bearing-driven action and secure locks, in a size that carries like a regular pocket knife.

Why a replaceable blade?
Cardboard, tape adhesive and plastic are some of the toughest materials on an edge. They're abrasive, gummy and quick to dull even premium steels. A utility knife sidesteps the problem entirely: when the edge starts to drag, you swap in a fresh blade and you're back to a factory-sharp edge in seconds, with no stones or strops needed. Most utility blades are made from SK5, a Japanese high-carbon steel that takes an extremely fine, aggressive edge. Because the blades are inexpensive and replaceable, you can use them hard without worrying about wear.

Built like a folder, not a box cutter
The knives in this collection use the same construction as our EDC folders. Handles are Micarta and G10 rather than stamped metal or plastic, so they grip securely with dusty, wet or gloved hands. Ceramic ball bearings give you smooth one-handed opening, and crossbar and liner locks keep the blade firmly in place under cutting pressure and let you close it safely with your fingers clear of the edge. With a pocket clip and a slim profile, they're easy to carry all day.
