Olitans Gecko M070 - 3.07" SLD-Magic DLC Blade, Copper Handle

The Gecko M070 in copper is one of the most distinctive knives in the Olitans range — a combination of materials that you simply don't see often in production folding knives, and for good reason: getting it right is hard.

The blade is SLD-Magic laminated steel with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating. SLD-Magic is Olitans' signature material — a hard SLD tool steel core sandwiched between stainless outer layers, giving the blade excellent edge retention from the core and corrosion resistance from the cladding. The clad line that naturally forms between the two layers gives each blade a flowing, wave-like pattern unique to that piece. The DLC coating adds another dimension: extreme scratch and abrasion resistance, reduced surface friction, and a deep matte black finish that creates a striking visual contrast against the warm copper handle. At 60±1 HRC with a flat grind, this blade is built to cut cleanly and hold its edge through daily use.

The handle is solid copper — and copper is a material that behaves unlike anything else in knife handles. It's heavier than aluminium or titanium, which gives the Gecko M070 a satisfying, substantial feel in hand at 148.5g. More importantly, copper develops a natural patina over time that's entirely unique to how and where you carry it — exposure to air, skin oils, and the environment gradually deepens the surface colour from bright warm gold toward rich amber and eventually burnished brown. Every Gecko M070 copper will look different after six months of carry. That's not a flaw, it's the point.
